I've already wiped Windows off my C drive trying (and failing) to install Kubuntu. I've looked around and I think a good step is to update the BIOS to v3.16 (after putting the factory 1GB RAM back in, of course). Tried to convert disk to gpt using microsoft's mbr2gpt program and it showed completed but when I rebooted it showed no boot disk found. I've been trying to install a 2GB RAM stick in my Aspire One D255, however once it's in there it won't boot to BIOS, just a blank screen and fans stop spinning. The Acer Aspire One has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, which can boot into a minimal BIOS environment via a special boot block to re-flash the BIOS, even if the system does not pass POST and does otherwise not boot anymore.
